2019 C.A.T. Show Judges
Bird Judge – Mike Nakielski, Iron Ridge, Wisconsin
Mike brings to us his 30 years of artistic bird taxidermy. As a youngster, Mike was mentored by his taxidermist father in his shop, back in the 70’s. He owns and operates Pro Taxidermy in Iron Ridge and has earned many awards in competition:
- Wisconsin State “WASCO” Award
- NTA “Award of Excellence”
- Minnesota State “WASCO” Award
- several Championship Bird Awards, and
- 7 UTA (United Taxidermists Assoc.) Master Champion Awards

Mammal/Gamehead Judge – Doug Roffers, Oneida, Wisconsin
Doug brings to us his 20+ years of big game taxidermy experience. He specializes in museum-quality wildlife artistry taxidermy on game animals from around the world and has earned many awards:
- Wisconsin State “Best of Show”
- NTA “National Champion” Big Game
- NTA “Award of Excellence”
- The Carl Akeley Award at the World Championships and many more

Fish and Reptiles Judge – Rick Krane, Hinsdale, New Hampshire
Rick Krane, of Anglers Artistry, has again agreed to travel to California to judge and teach at the annual California Association of Taxidermists show and competition. Rick is a world renowned instructor, a nationally accredited Fish Judge, a museum taxidermist, a full-time taxidermist, a sculptor and a wildlife artist.
In addition to museum projects and custom commission pieces of art, many of Rick’s displays have been featured on the front cover of taxidermy, carving and wildlife art magazines. Rick is a highly sought after veteran, nationally-certified judge and seminarian. Rick has judged and conducted seminars in numerous taxidermy, wildlife art, and wood carving competitions including sanctioned events of the National Taxidermy Association, International Guild of Taxidermists, United Taxidermy Association and the prestigious World Taxidermy Competitions. For two decades Rick had provided education and knowledge for the betterment of taxidermy in 20 states throughout the USA and Canada.

Matuska Competitor’s Award
To be eligible for this award, the competitor must submit 4 entries in the Professional or Masters category. All 4 entries must have a 1st or 2nd place ribbon with a combination score of 350 or greater.
Silver is for Professional and gold is Masters.
